Luciana was brought up at home in Rome by her parents - Luciana's dad was Manlio Paoluzzi, an Italian army officer and her maternal grandmother was Maria Rota Paoluzzi who was once one of Benito Mussolini's lover's wives. It is not known if she had having siblings. Luciana was a graduate of a high school in the local area in 1955. She then studied naval engineering in Milan in the Scientific Academy of Milan. Luciana as the sole female in her class, was the first to be a graduate. Then, after two more years of modeling, she was offered a role in Three Coins in the Fountain. The film was her debut. Her first husband was Brett Halsey who is also an actor. In the years following their marriage, the couple produced an ensemble film called Return to the Peyton Palace. The couple was blessed with the birth of a son called Charles born on the 13th of June 1961, but they divorced one year after the birth of Charles and Luciana was given custody. Between 1962 and 1970 Luciana was with Tony Athony, who was an actor and producer. He was inspired by her work in the film Green Slime and based on the script he wrote as well as this mixed Spaghetti Western for which he became somewhat popular.
